Sally Mair - Loving life

Field of light

I did a 10 mile sponsored 'culture crawl' for Maggie's Centre last night. Maggie's Centres provide amazing support for people with cancer and their friends and family. We started just before 7:00pm and this is the penultimate check point at Gallery One of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh at around 11:00pm. The gallery is in the building and grounds of the former John Watson's School.
There is a grass and water landscape feature in front of the gallery, whose architect was the husband of the founder of the first Maggie's Centre. I've seen it often and thought it interesting but a wee bit dull.
Tonight my opinion changed to 'wow'.
This is it lit up with moving coloured lights and spotlights, I don't know if this was a one-off or if this happens regularly but it was absolutely stunning.... And they gave us all a sparkler too! Having a lie in today and feeling chuffed if slightly weary!
