In The Occupied Territory

High and Low

This is the junction of High and Low Street.
They are unusual streets in the way they are numbered. Usually streets are numbered with odd numbers on the left and evens on the right starting from the point nearest the centre, or the edge of the village.
here High St numbers start from one end of the village and Low St from the other.

The odd numbers on High St are on the right. I realise that occasionally this occurs, but also in some cases there are also some duplication of numbers. For instance there are two 82 High Streets and a few others I am aware of.
Our house, like several in the village, was, at one time, two separate abodes. One smaller than the other, but the small property next to us is the same number as ours, but with an A added to it.
So the question is, was the smaller half of ours the same number as ours.
A lot of the property is like this, a fair few were shops and a house, before being converted into one house.
Also High Street also takes a fork to the right, before this spot.

Oh how we danced
