The Singer

Jalan Alor in Kuala Lumpur is a well known and popular food street for an enjoyable informal dining experience. This post is not about the street or the food or the customers.

Each night, several performers with varying degrees of physical disabilities roams up and down the street, serenading the crowds. In return some of the diners will drop donations in holders kept at the ready by these street performers. The guy in the photo is a regular. I do not know whether he is on his own, being used by some-one as an easy source of income, or whatever. But for me he is an example of the human spirit not allowing his handicaps to prevent him from doing his best to earn a living. (See also the extra photos.)
