Pavements are for Pedestrians

There's a number of these 'no cycling' signs that have appeared recently.

I don't know if it's a Council initiative following some sort of high velocity downhill bike v pedestrian run in, or if it's a local campaign by The New Town Anti-Pavement Cycling Alliance -

Reclaim the Streets with your Feet! Or words to that effect.
