Bouillon Chartier
I've been wanting to go to this bouillon for some time. K and I had tickets to see Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles at the Opéra comique tonight which is very near it. We were lucky to have arrived early to get a table! The bouillons were founded in the late 19th century to offer inexpensive meals, mostly consisting of soup (bouillon = broth). This is one of the original ones (from 1896) and they have tried to keep the prices low. The "rapport qualité prix" really was very good. I've blipped the more upscale "Bouillon Racine" before, both inside and out.
Les Pêcheurs de perles was fabulous, despite our seats way up in "le paradis". The last day of my conference was a day-long meeting. It could have been better organized but all in all it was fine too.
