The open road ...
Today was supposed to be wet. Fifteen minutes before we were due to leave the hotel it was fairly chucking it down and we duly put on the waterproof jackets, trousers - the lot. The first thing I did when we got off the bus in Gravina, a fascinating and ancient town, was sit on some steps and take them all off again. Three elderly men - probably our age - found this very amusing. Where were we from? Why was Mr PB not wearing a kilt?
But enough. This shows the lovely country we were walking through, under interesting clouds that stayed away from us. We ate our lunch in an olive grove. It was better than we could have hoped for.
And then we plunged below the old city - but that's another story...
