Grafton, Vermont

This must be one of the most picturesque villages in New England: wide, tree-lined streets, white clapperboard houses and all!

Apparently a group of philanthropists clubbed together in the 60s to save and restore it. We were lucky to visit on an afternoon when there was the first hint of an Autumnal chill, a fading sunlight and the merest trace of woodsmoke in the air. Perfect!

After a morning spent ambling around Quechee and Woodstock(not that one) we drove through unspoilt woodland and small, remote villages almost as pretty as Grafton to get to Manchester, VT where non-existent wifi meant this is back blipped
