Leaf Peeping
Today is the Autumn Equinox, as everyone who has used a certain search engine will know, having seen the rather nice doodle of vegetables and squirrel :-)
So, from now on we will have more darkness than light in our days. Maybe this is why I came home to find that D had swept out the back porch and filled it with sacks of wood in preparation for lighting the woodburner sometime soon.
This is also the season for "leaf peeping", when people travel to view and photograph the changing colours of the foliage, especially in New England, and in Japan, where it is called "momijigari".
Luckily I don't have to travel far as the Virginia creeper on the front of our house provides a lovely show.
This is before the frosts come and the leaves all fall off and form a wet brown mush..
