What temperature?

Yes, it's a ten minutes to midnight picture! But what temperature actually is it?

I got this colour changing crystal postcard in a sciencey shop in America years ago and it's made me laugh sometimes at how much off I think it has been. Sometimes though, it goes like this where several temperatures are shown!!

Blue is to the bottom of the range and brown is to the top end. Allegedly!!
