WILD Flowers No:2
We have experienced another extraordinary and magical day driving through the countryside approximately 100 km's from the coast. CCN and I have always put a lot of faith in the volunteers who man the Information Centres in country towns. They're usually very passionate about their region and can usually point you in the right direction. Well we certainly hit the jackpot today. We had spent the night in a very small town called Morawa. We called in just before we left town and met Bonnie. What a gem and did Bonnie know her stuff. We left armed with a local map which she had highlighted with the best areas to go to see the mass displays and also the magical wreath flower (very very rare).
Well we followed Bonnie's directions to the tee and were well rewarded. It mean't driving down a long dirt road and around a few bends but then there tucked behind a line of trees we saw the most amazing sight. As far as the eye could see the most glorious pink and white flowers were happily waiting for us to arrive. Now I've tagged this with a Tiny Tuesday Tag because the flowers were tiny (see the extra image). But what an impact they had en masse.
After a thrilling time in this area we then went in search of the rare wreath flower (also an extra) and once again Bonnie came up trumps. I really didn't know which image to blip tonight, but I hope whoever calls by my journal enjoys all of the photos I've added today.
A huge congratulations to rainie in Timaru - just realised rainie published her 2000th blip today. One of our blip legends for sure. So pleased to have met rainie and Doug in Wanaka. What a joy that was.
We made it to Kalbarri tonight just as the sun was setting. We couldn't believe our eyes when we drove in. I'll be up at first light with the camera and hopefully capture the essence of this magical place so that I can share it with my blip buddies.
