Grunge ?

When I think of grunge I think of music - Nirvana et al - and fashion. I don't think it's used for its other meaning - filth, rubbish - much these days.

This is a kind of grungy building that sits between two very smartly suited companions. Bill Posters has been at work, it has a worn, dirty exterior, and poor old William Shakespeare looks forlornly on, imprisoned behind a cage.

The old Theatre Royal has fallen on hard times, awaiting rescue.
