Eddies reddies

A few days ago I blipped two white lily flowers. Regular readers will recall that the plants had been a gift from Eddie.

As I forecast Eddie rapidly came up with the name of the plant. But he also told me that the red variety was in bloom in his garden.

So when the sun came out early afternoon I was soon round there camera in hand. The common name for the plant is Kaffir Lily. Its scientific name is Schizostylis coccinea although it may recently have been changed to Hesperantha coccinea.

Of course its common name will tell you that its origins are in South Africa. It flowers from late summer to early winter and longer in a greenhouse. And you can see that we had some light rain this morning.
