Day 2: Goodbye Bangkok and Overnight Train
We had a bit of a lie in this morning as we didn't have anything planned until 1pm this afternoon - a thai cooking class! We made Shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken Pa-Nang Curry and Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice - all of which was absolutely gorgeous. The lady who was teaching us was absolutely lovely and showed us some interesting thai cooking techniques which I will definitely be taking home!
We had a couple of hours looking round the markets before getting picked up by a minivan to take us to the train station - unfortunately our lovely group leader Tom (who hadn't been feeling well all week) found out he had got Dengue Fever so we had to say goodbye! His replacement is the awesome Corey who will take us for the rest of the week.
We arrived at the station at about 5:15, grabbed some food and were back in the station for 6pm when the whole station rose and sang the Thai National Anthem for the King. Felt a bit like an intruder. At 6:15pm we boarded the train and off we went to the South of Thailand. The seats turned into bunk beds about 8pm, which wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't for the insane heat and the lights being kept on all night!
Tomorrow - Khoa Sok National Park and overnight stay in floating bungalows!
