Faded Beauties

Despite the intermittent rain, we -- and a crowd of other hardy folks -- enjoyed the offerings at the 10th Annual Bite of Bellingham this afternoon, which offered "tastes" from more than 20 food vendors, as well as beer, wine, and cocktail samplings. As we'd had a late breakfast, we didn't have the appetite to try more than a handful of tastes, but have now added several local restaurants to our "must visit" list.

Heading south, we went down scenic Chuckanut Drive -- which would have been much more scenic in better weather -- to Edison, our favorite tiny town. GlassRoad and I popped into several eclectic shops, saw the latest exhibit at the Smith and Vallee Gallery (see extra photo), and joined Phil at the S and V "wood remainders" shop. Our trio ended up at Tweets Cafe, which is open only Friday through Sunday, for coffees (hot chocolate for me) and an amazing oversize oatmeal chocolate cookie, half of which we brought home with us. (Today's blip is one of several appealing arrangements I saw at Tweet's -- I love that very unusual container for the moribund but still beautiful flowers!)

The rain intensified on the drive home, and we bagged our plans to go out for dinner, as there are plenty of leftovers from last night's meal and an abundance of beer available right here, as well as a quieter atmosphere and the warmth of our gas fire. We'll keep our fingers crossed that the forecast for Monday -- mostly sunny -- is accurate!
