Brooklands Aviation Day.

We went to Brooklands Museum today, a fantastic day out. It is a petrol heads fantasy, bikes, cars and aircraft. Everything from the earliest aircraft like Bleriots to the beautiful Concorde.
This is just a very small part of a hugely complicated and cutting edge aircraft that had to cope with growing 20cm at Mach 2.2 and the airframe skin being +160°c due to friction in -60°c atmosphere at 11 miles high.
It's an amazing story of British and French ingenuity that overcame huge challenges and pushed aviation technology to the point that has yet to be exceeded in many areas.
Anyway enough anorak notes.
Across the road is the Mercedes centre. You can drive a huge V8 on a skid pan and a race track!
(Brilliant birthday present for a petrol head)
It was a fantastic day and I'll be going back again.
