Queen’s Park Govanhill Parish Church
I had been admiring the paint job on these doors as I drove past during the week, so after coffee and cake then a walk in the park I brought Mum down to see the doors.
As I was taking the photo, one of the parishioners who was opening up for their feeding the homeless session tonight asked if we wanted a look inside. It was fascinating. Remodelled about a decade ago, the lower floor is no communal dining / meeting space with a new floor added so that the church space is upstairs. The old balcony pews remain round the edges with chairs set in the middle and bright pennants round the walls. The stained glass is bright and simple and on the back wall they have found original murals by Daniel Cottier (linked to the west end theatre / church. Very interesting.
I offered a donation for the time and chat about the history and the local area, which was refused. We did get an invitation to return. It seemed like a perfect demonstration of Christianity.
