Carnage

I'll begin by apologising for the gory nature of this photo - and the extra.

After a lovely day at a dog show, with friends of the two and four legged variety, I got home and went out to fill up the bird feeders. The goldfinches have been having a great time and consumed a ridiculous amount of sunflower hearts again.

 I noticed that there were quite a few spiders on the lavender, and decided to practise with the macro lens.

I had quite a murky choice.  I went for this one, which shows the poor victim well trussed up by the spider, as if prepared for a feast.
