A grand day out

I went to Merefest, a wildlife themed event in Ellesmere. There were lots of stalls and activities - too many to mention. There were also lots of people that I knew so spent a lot of time socialising.
We hired a rowing boat and had an hour messing around on the Mere and managed to avoid landing in the water! It was very different seeing Ellesmere from a different perspective.

In the evening was a lantern display with a variety of lanterns all beautifully made, including this fisherman on the Mere. There was a play with lanterns etc. but can't comment on it as there were tall people in front of me and some with children on their shoulders so we couldn't see a thing. We couldn't hear either as there was so much chatting from others in the crowd.
Afterwards we went to the pub with friends where it was great to meet fellow blipper Ian Wright and his lovely wife. It made a change to chat in person rather than virtually!
