Surprise Pea Harvest

The midges were out in force today!  We got eaten alive digging up the rest of the potatoes, but it was a super crop, variety Charlotte, so very rewarding.  Found some more peas ready too, not many more left so I might just give the plants to the hens.

Anyone remember Surprise Peas?  They were freeze dried, and lasted for ages.  We always had them on family caravan holidays, but never at any other time!  

The hens have been looking very sorry for themselves while they have been moulting, but do seem to have started laying again.  One or two a day from the three of them.  Gave half a dozen to our neighbour, who in return gave us a whopper of a marrow!
