Beach critter
This is a section of a dinner plate sized jellyfish washed up on the rocky beach of Seward, where we went camping. Seward is located on Resurrection Bay, about 80 miles from us, on the other side of the peninsula. The vegetation and geography of the area are quite different than here. It's more of a rain forest, so the trees are very large, and some varieties flourish that don't even grow on this side.
Some of the extra photos were taken from our campsite, and some during a hike on the second day. We crossed a river that was filled with thousands of spawning salmon. Some had completed their life cycle and had come to their final resting place on the river banks, much to the delight of local sea gulls.
