Well Fed Snapping Turtle

This big fat (yes! fat!) Snapping Turtle was in the middle of the Wildlife Loop road on Assateague this morning. No danger of its being run over since there are only bicycles, pedestrians and the occasional Refuge employee going very slowly in a truck (and presumably paying attention). He or she certainly looked like s/he'd been eating well.

We're off this evening to see a movie since "A Walk in the Woods" is at the local theater. Should be an entertaining couple of hours. But - that means I'm blipping early. Tomorrow morning we load up the car and head for home. It'll be good to be home. Two weeks is just about the right amount of time, I think.
