One of many events today in our Landscape Trust Beetham village weekend was an introduction to lichens in Beetham churchyard.

I especially liked the lichen which over many decades has turned this gargoyle into a distinguished looking character.

Several excellent half hour lectures and the sun shone beautifully for the natural history walk led by Mrs. K. Knottman was the sheep dog at the back of the group ensuring nobody fell off the end and helping old ladies over styles. Quite an enjoyable task.
