Corinth Canal
Today our stop is at Corinth, an ancient city about 48 miles west of Athens on the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece.
Corinth was an important city in ancient Greece and it played a major role in the missionary work of the Apostle Paul. Today, Corinth is the second largest city in the Peloponnese with several sites of interest. We also had a trip up the Corinth Canal which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and seperates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland. It is 6.4 kilometres long and only 21.4 metres wide at the base.
There are several bridges that cross the canal and one of them seems popular for bungee jumping !! - See extras
