Soaking up the Sun

A nice walk round the gravel pits in the sunshine with lots of insects to see but this Hawker dragonfly really caught my eye as he sat sunbathing.

As we walked along by the river chatting I suddenly spotted a streak of blue go by and as I crept round the next bush I couldn't believe my eyes when a kingfisher sat on a stick just yards in front of me. Unfortunately this time I wasn't quick enough with the camera but it was much closer than the one a couple of days ago and I'm kicking myself that I didn't go round the bush with the camera up to my face. I think I would probably have still scared it off and missed the shot but I cant believe that I've now seen two perched like that in two completely different places........I think I'll buy a Lotto ticket  ;-)))
