Monkstone Muskateers - Away - One Last Horrah!

Our final petanque match of the season. We have one more game to play tomorrow to complete the league fixtures.

This felt like a home game to me and Dawn as our last two games have been at Penylan Bowls club on the 26th and 27th of last month.

I was determined to win the first game, as if we did then we would end up with a positive legs scored there in the six matches.

It was a tight opening couple of ends, with it being 2-2 scored in singles. We were finding our range, and the next end turned the game. Holding one, with my three boules in hand I managed to point all three bang on the coche. We pushed on to 12-2 scoreline after that. As always that final one is always the hardest one to get, and it took another three ends to finish the game 13-7.

We were playing with dad and Clive, they made short work of their opposition and won 13-2.

It was yet another match of second halves. In much the same way the cup game went we just couldn't find our range and slumped to an annoying 13-3 loss in our second game. No idea why. Everything that felt good in the first game was all wrong in the second!

Dad and Clive had a tussle but went down 13-10 .. so it was umpteenth draw of the season. We were quite pleased to come away with a 4-2 record in our six games played there. Just a bit of a rubbish performance to end our season.

As always we enjoyed some wonderful hospitality in the clubhouse afterwards.

So that's it until next March now. We shall see where we end up in the league, hopefully we avoid the bottom spot.

It's been a fun summer!
