late summer wildflower
These flowers are everywhere in the woods these days - they line the trail and fill the open spaces. They are almost as tall as me - and they look a little tired. The petals are not evenly spaced, and the color is harsh. But they are food for the bees and the flies who are feeling the shortening days. Thier beauty is a gritty, real life kind of beauty.
I'm so happy it is Friday - we have no definite plans for the weekend - beyond cleaning and puttering. Nice.
