Todays shows the same view over a century ago of the Italianate  style Princes Pier Greenock opened in 1894 to serve the steamers of the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company this being the terminus of their  railway line from Glasgow St Enoch, line closing 1959 and pier 1969 after its post war use for tendering to trans-atlantic liners
