Hiking the Rubicon

Glorious is the only word I can think of to describe this day.

We were the only people on the trail until we were nearly finished...the sky was reflected in the perfect blue of the big lake.   The woods were silent except for some Stellar Jays and some Flickers....and the views were beyond magnificent.

We hiked along Lake Tahoe, then up into the ancient forest and back down until we found the highest elevation lighthouse on navigable water in the world...Rubicon Lighthouse.

There we met the only two other people on the trail this morning, and they very kindly offered to take this shot of Al and I at the finish of our hike.

Then we had lunch at our favorite restaurant, on a pier overlooking the entire lake.   The word "perfect" comes to mind!!!
