Eyesland

Eye'm bananas about this picture

Meye great-grandfather, Jón J. Dahlmann, was a professional photographer and one of the founders of the Professional Photographers Association of Iceland. He was born in 1873 and had a photography studio, first in Akureyri and later in Reyjavík. He took this photo of Gullfoss waterfall, which is in black and white, but is painted by hand as was the custom then, probably by one of his daughters who used to work for him. The photo was taken sometime between the great wars and now hangs in my house.
