Duckling

I'm back in Perth now, after a trip to Taunton to visit my parents. So this picture comes from one of my usual haunts, a pond in the Norie Miller gardens. It's currently the home for a family of 9 or 10 mallard ducklings.

I was surprised to see one of them swimming underwater. Apparently they do it all the time, and even the adult mallards can dive if they need to. Somehow I'd never noticed before, though.
