What ball?

Laney likes to bob for apples at the dog park, that is, she likes to dive in the stream after little green crab apples. She then carries them to safety on the far side, and I have to find more to toss for her.
Today I ran out of apples, so I tossed in a green tennis ball.
She was not impressed.
