Ship's figurehead

I wonder what stories this could tell of it's previous life standing proud at the helm of a boat. It now has pride of place on a shed. They were very popular between the 16th and 20th Century and normally made of wood.
The rain has now set in for the rest of the day, pleased I managed to go out with a friend this morning.
