Rear Window
Watched Rear Window when I got home this evening. Such a great film! Suspense, drama, comedy...and Grace Kelly's wardrobe. Designed by Edith Head, Kelly floats across the screen in 3 different full skirted creations (one monochrome, one all black and one floral) each more elegant than the last.
She also wears a green skirt suit, at first not particularly awe inspiring but on removal of her jacket Kelly reveals the beautiful white cross over halter top underneath, with a high neck and low cut back. Accessorised with classic white gloves, white hat and a rather nice gold and pearl costume bracelet with padlock pendants- I'll be keeping an eye out for something similar in the shops!
Her final costume is a red men's shirt, cropped indigo jeans, heavy brown loafers and a copy of Harpers Bazaar. An ensemble that would't look out of place on Alexa Chung and vastly different to the ultra feminine outfits worn in the rest of the film. Perhaps a comic hint that now Lisa (kelly's character) has won her man (James Stewart) she wears the trousers. Literally.
