An ordinary life....

Past and Present...

Spent a lovely afternoon with my Auntie Maisie today before she heads back to Kent at the weekend.

Picked her up from my cousin's house and she treated me to lunch in a local hotel.  Very nice it was too.  Afterwards I drove her to the village where she lived until she was 12 and where I lived from 3 months old till I got married age 22.  It's also the village my gran moved to in 1925 when she was 7 and where my mum was born and brought up.

To say she saw a few changes is an understatement  It's the first time she has visited the part of the village we lived in since the radical regeneration began in 2008.  The whole estate we grew up in has been demolished and new houses have been built.  Well Phase 1 has been built but Phase 2 seems to be taking a while to progress but that went in our favour as I was able to drive to the top of the street where my mum was born and where my auntie Maisie lived.

You can see a very old photograph looking down the same street HERE.

The only thing that still remains in both photos is The Big Tree (that's what it's know as locally :-) on the right hand side of the shot.  I hope when the regeneration is finally complete The Big Tree will still be standing.

A lovely day reminiscing and bringing to life people we miss and memories we cherish.

Dropped my auntie Maisie off at my cousins then headed home to give Alan his dinner.
