Non-runners?

I planted these beans out over a month ago and by now they should be spiralling their way up the canes - but they refuse to do so - masses of flowers, so I have had to tie them to the canes at regular intervals.
The flowers are two-tone purple as opposed to the red ones I had last year.
Have I been sold something which is not a runner bean??
