Larry

Meet Larry.

This is youngest's new pet, he found him outside on the pavement while I was in Tiree and decided to keep him to show me. Now he hopes to keep him until he turns into a moth next May.

He should pupate any time now and we have given him some soil and dead leaves which I understand is what they like.

He is a caterpillar of an Elephant Hawk Moth, the name comes from the caterpillar looking ;like an elephants trunk. I like the two pretend eyes it has on it's back. If you upset Larry he rears up with his head down but his pretend eyes up and that makes him look much bigger.

If we get fed up with him we shall put him in the garden. The moth when it hatches is very lovely.
