Water, water, water! A tune in our beloved school
IMPACT East Africa supports Kenyan teachers like Marilyn to improve the health and well-being of the children in their care.
IMPACT trains teachers and older pupils to check the health of pupils and refer those needing treatment to our community nurse. We also deworm children, provide medication for conditions such as ringworm and combat malnutrition through vegetable growing.
The biggest challenge in Kitui District is water scarcity and children walk many miles each day to collect water. Marilyn told us, 'Water, water, water! has become a tune in our beloved school all day long. Our enivonrmental, social and economic characteritics are alarming due to water scarcity'. We are currently working with a drilling company to survey the school grounds and hope we will be able to install a borehole to provide children with clean water on site.
