highways, waterways

My friend's son drew this beautiful map of an imaginary place, complete with highways, park lands, waterways, and train tracks.
He is a bird expert, and every time we go somewhere he points out some bird I have never seen. He showed me a kingfisher that I never would have noticed on my own, as it was very high, and looked much like part of the branch he was sitting on. 
His map has so many waterways. I guess this is because his favorite birds all seem to be water birds, especially the great blue heron, and he carries his stuffed great blue heron everywhere he goes.
