Remember when people watched football matches via the vidi-printer one Ceefax? (I don't actually remember this, but did do it a few times when I was away from home without a radio.)

The final group matches in major tournaments are played simultaneously, so as not to give an advantage to the other teams. These days you don't have to pick which match to watch, you just get your TV and laptop/tablet and watch them both at the same time.
