Whirling Waders

I took the opportunity to head over to the Norfolk Coast to see the Whirling Waders spectacle at Snettisham. This is where the high tide coincides with a full moon to completely cover the mud flats in the Wash which gradually forces the thousands of wading birds closer and closer to the mainland and then as the last of the mud flats become covered they all take flight in a massive spectacle of coordinated chaos.

I think that this is the single most impressive natural spectacle that I have seen, and it was a wonderful evening.
