Last breakfast at Casa da Arvore

This is the courtyard where we eat and our bedroom is above me. I have loved it here, so relaxing and just a short walk to the old town and sea. However, it was time to pack up and head to the bustle and noise of Lisbon, about a two hour drive north. Saw a strange sight on way to Lisbon. There were a line of pylons next to the river at the side of the motorway and there were multitudes of storks nests on them!! Then looked up and saw loads of storks with such a wide wing span floating on the thermals ! What a wonderful sight, made up for not seeing them at the coast yesterday!

As you come into Lisbon, which sits at the Tagus River, you drive over one of the longest bridges I have been on, 17 kilometres long which is 10.7 miles, called the Vasco da Gama, with Lisbon sitting majestically on the hills behind it.

Dropped off the hire car at the airport, Busiest car hire I have seen at an airport. Got the metro into the city, which was pretty quiet being a Sunday and walked to our little mews cottage tucked away down a busy street which is really quiet for a city centre. Decided as it was a quiet day to do the Tram 28 taking us all the way to the Castle, a wander and then sat outside for a meal.

And that was it, home to bed, all that walking makes you shattered!

Edit: just been to,d that we have averaged over 9 miles walking a day!! No wonder exhausted and sleeping like logs!!
