Good morning - how are you?
Coming back from the calf pens at about 8 this morning, Dirk grabbed the camera to get a picture of Mrs Dube saying good morning to one of the calf twins inside the gate.
I think it would be impossible to tire of seeing the Zebra's in the morning. They are getting more and more used to humans and as we walked passed them later in the day on our way to going to see the steers, they let us pass very close by - before doing their requisite skittering away. The steers were super bored and as such very inquisitive indeed, not my favourite trait in them and Dirk acquired a stick for me, as Gill says, you always are far braver with a stick in hand.
Lovely quiet day today, Gill was off at a walk in support of a Cancer charity, which apparently had 1,500 participants, we decided not to join in and give the boy a bit of a rest at home. He had a couple of walks, this evening we came across a cow and her new born calf who should have been herded up into the calf pen, but had been missed and so we did the honours. I had a very motherly moment when the calf became caught up in some branches on the ground and all you wanted to do was help it get free - after extracting itself the calf had a 1.5km walk to the pen, not bad going when you were born a few hours before.
