Thoroughly water-logged

It's always there, the spider webs that decorate everything out back-you just can't see them till it rains...and rains...and rains. Every time another storms comes trucking through I find myself wishing that we had a giant cistern buried under the patio so I can have a free source of water for those times that we have a dry spell. To see that much water rushing into the street drains is thought-inducing. It feels as though we, with our modern capabilities, should be able to pipe it to parts of the country that don't have enough.

Instead of regular Tuesday lunch, we had Tuesday brunch, followed by a muggy, mosquito-y, muddy hike through the woods to the old grain mill and the "biggest waterfall in the world." We threw pebbles into the gushing creek for a bit and continued the loop alongside the creek, having to wade through some ankle deep water on the path. Super exciting for the little ones.

It's hot. It's muggy. It's buggy. It's like we're in the Okefenokee swamp or something.
