Seaside!

Just 45 minutes on the train to Cromer for a brilliant day out at the sea side. Here's Matthew splashing in the little stream on the beach while daddy is busy engineering. We had lots of fun building dams and canals and making a big sandcastle on a promontory with a moat and curtain wall and gatehouse. We went for a paddle in the sea too and showed Matthew how to play chase with the waves but he did think it was a bit scary.

£1 in the arcade 2p drop machine was a hit and we won a badge and enough tickets to exchange for some sweets. Then fish and chips for lunch - and Matthew's portion came with a bucket and spade. He ate lots of chips and enjoyed putting them back in the bucket too and did some great colouring too.

Back out for a walk on the very windy pier then back on the sand to build more castle with the new bucket. Stopped to buy icecream on the way back to the station. Matthew pocked the bright blue bubblegum flavour and he ate the whole thing! Though I really wish I'd stopped to get a photo as he dripped blue goo absolutely everywhere in the process.

It really was a great day out.
