Grass is just a flower bed waiting!

I’m trying to remove some of the grass from my small garden and introduce a variety of different plants (I think you call that a mish mash) anyway, this is a much-welcomed explosion of colour from my recently planted New Zealand Christmas Bush (Metrosideros thomasiii).
 

The bright red pom-pom like flowers emerge at the end of winter to early spring…... just delightful!
