Sunset at Dead Horse Point
Day 5 - Another moving day from Salt Lake to Moab. We started to follow the Colorado River today, stopping for lunch in a gorge formed by its flow. An opportunity to take some photographs of the red rock that will be our companion for the rest of the trip. We also cam e across some Germans, who had pulled their car down to the water's edge and had gone skinny dipping in the river. Imagine their surprise when 10 photographers appeared! They beat a hasty retreat to the far shore, leaving their car, complete with their clothes and the keys in the ignition. We were sorely tempted to have some fun at their expense.
We ended the day at Dead Horse Point, an overlook into the Canyonlands National park and a wonderful place to watch the sun go down. I don't have time to post other images to Flickr tonight; we have a 5 am start to reach the Mesa Arch for sunrise.
We have two other people blipping on the trip. John Gravett will be well known to you and we also have James Smith with us as well. Pop over and have a look at their images.
