Do you think we will ever get it done?

I've been in this house for ten years. The upstairs and downstairs hallways are the same horrible apricot-over-old-anaglypta that they were when we arrived.
At last, I begin to peel the paper off, revealing even older plaster. A carpet fitter is kind of booked.
I only look at the increasing chaos (how symbolic might that be?) and wonder if it will actually ever change or improve or become new, looking forward at last?
