Another what is it?

We have a plant in the garden,one of the most reliable ones, tall & stately, broad green leaves, grows from a tuber like a dahlia. spreads discretely, flowers at this time of year.

Its flowers look like a Kangaroo paw from Australia,is that it? I am sure I also saw it in South Africa, if not it then its cousin.

No doubt you have already twigged that I am floundering for a blip today, just one of those barren days where living and earning a living have had to take precedence.

I might have good news about my tomatoes tomorrow (ever the optimist)
