Sanderling

I think this is a Sanderling. I'm really bad at identifying the various "Peeps" - so I'm hoping someone will let me know if it's not a Sanderling. Possibly it's in the middle of switching from its breeding plumage to its winter wear. Anyway, the point is, this particular bird had only a single functioning leg. All of its compatriots were rushing back and forth each time a wave rippled in and rolled back out, with their little legs a blur of motion - but it was hopping on its one good leg. Poor sweet thing! That said, it is clearly functioning well enough! Finding food, getting along. Well done little bird!
