Look on the Sunnyside

Missymoo's challenge today is: colorful (or colourful). Not too difficult in Portland in the spring, even though today is cold and cloudy, a little misty.

This is a corner in our neighborhood that has become a community project. The intersection has a huge sunflower painted across it; each corner holds a barrel of flowers and some sort of archway; there's a kiosk, a fountain, a bench and lights strung on posts. Sunnyside Piazza is a very welcoming spot.

There are community spaces like this springing up all over Portland, mostly sponsored by City Repair, a nonprofit civic art group. (I can't get on their website this morning, but here's a link to an informative article about this year's projects.)
